Pet Photography in Sacramento and Lake Tahoe Area

Capturing the moments, expressions, and behaviors that make your pet special.

Hello! My name is Tracy Christenson, and I am a Pet Photographer in the Sacramento and Lake Tahoe region.

Our pets are such an important part of ourselves, our lives, and our families. Their expressions are real. Their actions are not scripted. You don’t always get second chances to capture the moment. Every pet is unique, and no one understands yours better than you do. You share a bond with your pet that is just as unique as they are. You know their personality and all of the quirks that make them so special, better than anyone else.

Capturing the Moments That Make Your Pet Special

As a pet photographer, it is my goal to capture these moments in the images of your pet. When I look at photographs of the pets that have been a part of my life over the years, I treasure the ones that most that define who they are, or who they were. The crossed paws and noble posture of “Jake”, my Pitbull Mix. The look of pure joy my lab mix “Indy” has on his face as he is running through a field, and even the expression of impatience and frustration on my little “Petey’s” face as he tries to tell me dinner is late (dogs apparently don’t believe in Daylight Savings Time). All of these moments are captured forever in photographs that I treasure more than any other material thing that I can think of.

My years of pet owning and pet sitting as well as my time working for Beyond K9 dog training taught me how best to approach and handle each dog, based on what makes them comfortable in various situations.  Volunteering to take adoption photos at the Pet Network Shelter in Incline Village has given me even more experience in how to work with a variety of dogs, many of whom were timid, over-excited, or scared due to being in an unfamiliar environment. This has all proved to be very useful in photography sessions, as happy and comfortable dogs are the number one priority (and also make for the best images).

Custom Artwork Featuring Your Pet

The custom images of your pet that I create will be something you will be able to cherish for years to come.  You will be able to enjoy these images as wall art and display pieces tailored to your taste and décor, as well as digital files that can be shared through both social media and web platforms. I will create artwork that you can proudly display in your home or office. Contact me to set up a dog photography session with your best friend. Let’s create some awesome images of your dog that will warm your heart and serve as a reminder of the bond and love you share with them.

Can my dog do this?

The answer is YES!  Some of you with particularly spirited dogs might be wondering this.   Your dog’s job during the photoshoot is simply to be your dog.  My job as your pet photographer is to capture the images that showcase how awesome your dog is. I will make sure the photoshoot is a fun experience for them.  This is extra important because happy dogs make the best images! Leashes can be edited out later.  Your dog will set the pace of the session. I have lots of tricks up my sleeve to help grab the attention of the most distracted pups.

If you have a very timid pup or another type of pet such as a cat, that might not enjoy traveling out of the home, I can always come to you. Home sessions are available.

"Tracy was amazing!! We had photos taken of our three dogs and two horses. To be honest, I was worried. I was worried that my animals wouldn't behave and that it would to be a complete disaster! I was pleasantly surprised with how smooth the entire shoot went. Tracy was not only professional, but sweet as can be! All the dogs and the horses loved her, as well. All the photos came out beautiful!! There is not just one favorite photo because they all are so fabulous! They all look like they came out of a magazine!! I would recommend Tracy to everyone!! "
